Deed of Gift
A deed of gift governed by the law of England and Wales, for giving away money, personal possessions (chattels), or shares in a private company absolutely, voluntarily, and without payment. Executed as a deed under section 1 of the Law of Property (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1989: signed by the donor before an independent adult witness who attests, expressed to be a deed, and delivered. Includes an acceptance signature for the donee, a solvency declaration, and — for shares — wording confirming completion by stock transfer form (J30 for fully paid shares, J10 for partly paid shares) and registration. It does not cover land, buildings, or any interest in property: gifting land requires a TR1 transfer registered at HM Land Registry and normally a solicitor. Scotland and Northern Ireland have different rules and are not covered.
